Your privacy is extremely important to us. This policy ensures that all personal and health information shared by participants in our peer support service is protected, managed respectfully, and compliant with the Privacy Act 2020.
Your Information
By default we:
- Do not require personally identifying information and encourage the use of pseudonyms where appropriate.
- Only collect contact information if you agree to this so we can contact you.
- Never record voice or video calls.
- Never take down detailed notes.
- Delete any emails, messages, texts, or other data we receive from you as soon as it’s practical to do so.
- Keep your information private and secure.
An exception would be if you provide consent. Another exception would be if we’re legally required to disclose information — this is not something we expect to happen often, and we will be transparent about any limits to confidentiality where we can. We believe people are best able to make good choices when they have access to support, understanding, and honest conversation. Our focus is on providing support rather than investigating, monitoring, or reporting those who contact us.
Your Rights
We are required to notify both you and the Privacy Commissioner if there has been a serious breach to your privacy. If you believe your privacy has been breached, you should first try to resolve the issue with us, otherwise visit here.
You have a right to ask for a copy of any personal information we hold about you, and to ask for it to be corrected if you think it’s wrong. If you’d like to ask for a copy of your information, or to have it corrected, contact us at sun4every1@proton.me or (0800 number).
